Sandblasting & Media Blasting
Blasting takes rust, old paint and failing coatings back to bare metal — the prep a new finish needs.
What it is
What it covers
Blasting drives an abrasive media at the surface under pressure to scour off what should not be there — rust, scale, old paint, old powder — and leaves clean metal with a surface profile a new coating can grip. It is in the shop’s name: Projekt Lab Powder Coating & Sandblast.
- Rust, scale and surface corrosion
- Old paint, old powder and failing coatings

Good to know
Before you bring it in
Thin, soft or delicate parts can call for a gentler approach — say what the part is made of when you ask for a quote.
Freshly blasted bare steel can start to flash-rust if it sits uncoated, so ask about the timing between blasting and coating.
Mention anything that must not be blasted — threads, machined faces, bearing seats — so it can be planned for.
General guidance about the process — the shop will tell you what your part needs.
