Powder Coating
A dry powder finish, cured with heat, on metal parts — one bracket, a set of wheels or a run of railings.
What it is
What it covers
Powder coating is a dry finish. A fine powder is applied to clean, bare metal and then cured with heat, which flows it into one continuous coat. It is the finish you see on many wheels, frames, railings and outdoor furniture — and it is the core of what Projekt Lab does.
- Wheels and rims
- Brake calipers, valve covers and engine parts
- Motorcycle and bicycle frames and parts
- Frames, brackets and suspension components
- Railings, gates, fencing and outdoor furniture
- Industrial and commercial fabrication
- Restoration projects and vintage hardware

Good to know
Before you bring it in
Powder is cured with heat, so it suits metal that can take it — steel and aluminum are common. Wood, most plastics, rubber and glass cannot go through a cure.
Rubber seals, bearings, glass and electronics generally need to come off first. Ask how the shop wants your part before you strip it down.
The surface has to be clean for the powder to bond, which is why blasting usually comes first.
General guidance about the process — the shop will tell you what your part needs.
